30 July 2021
Prince Edward Point by Don Ross
Partly cloudy and quite windy with some choppiness on the lake. About 17 MM rain in past 24 hours. Biggest change from last visit and most before, is the water level is about 8M closer to the shore now, so where we normally test at the end of the limestone ledges where it drops off deeper, is now under .1M of lake water. Met a lovely healthy looking deer on the road just as I was ending my 1 Hr bike ride to get here….what a treat! Some seagulls and hawks in the sky, mosquitoes and flies around too.

26 July 2021
Pt. Petre Provincial Wildlife Area by Don Ross
Partly cloudy and very hazy due to the fires out west causing issues and air quality warnings here & much of the country. Moderately windy. No birds or wildlife to be seen.
-
25 July 2021
Smiths Bay by Don Ross
Hazy and windy today with around 3 MM rain over past 24 hours. Haze is being caused by the forest fires out west with smoke drifting this far and causing air quality warnings to be issued. Few seagulls flying around, some folks fishing and many boats out on the water with lots docked at the marina. Nice chat with a young local resident who cottages on the Island so he was interested in our water testing and I gave him a card to learn more about it. He’s a local home builder ( Hickory Homes ) & I mentioned the importance of maintaining natural shorelines and the Pugnose Shiner program our CSG is part of this summer with Watersheds Canada and Natural Edge.

Public River Access at Old Train Station Info Centre by Heather Ross
Overcast and lightly raining now with some rainfall overnight. No signs of any wildlife here today. River edge is far out across the rocks and very shallow. When first tests done here by us the river had been swollen so much it was nearly up to the stone wall next to the parking lot.

19 July 2021
Woodstock by Don Ross
Overcast sky with fine drizzle at times. Have had some rainfall in past 24 hours. Very calm water with no wind this morning. Some pigeons , crows & seagulls around, and a few fish just breaking the surface as they come up for insects. Greater water depth this time reflects our testing from the end of the summer dock which was never in place when previous testing was done from the shoreline under the nearby bridge.
-
14 July 2021
Hartland New Brunswick by Don Ross
Overcast and windy day with no rain in past 24 hours. River flowing strongly and some seagulls flying around and on the water. The dock was in this time under the covered bridge so that’s where we test from instead of just from the shore edge.

8 July 2021
First Bridge on County Rd 28 by Don Ross
Overcast sky with rain in the forecast very soon. Have had rainfall in Quinte area in past 24 hours, sometime heavy. So much green pea soup looking algae floating atop the water in most spots other than further out where it’s more open and lots of lily pads there. Family of ducks on other side of the roadway from the test spot, and single Canada Goose sitting along the waters edge just feet from me the whole time I was there and didn’t budge . No nest near it that I could see. The DO result was lowest I’ve had in all the testing anywhere over 4+ years….below 1 but not 0 so gave it .5
