  • 9 May 2021

Prinyer’s Cove Park & Boat Launch by Don Ross

Bit of rain over past 24 hours…about 2 MM. Overcast and hazy skies today. Some hawks flying around, loons in the water and ducks too. Some Lake Bugs around and swallows are happy with that. Few songbirds too. Zebra Mussel shells along the shoreline. Summer dock is in now so the depth measurements will be more normal than that first one done this spring.

  • 8 May 2021

    Smiths Bay by Don Ross

About 3-4 Mm rain over past 24 hours and raining now in some nearby areas. Zebra mussels can be seen at the bottom of the lake where we do our secchi measurements and along the shoreline. Cormorants out on the rocks of the breakwater, some Canada Geese in the lake along with a few loons. Swallows flying around eating the clouds of Lake Bugs, other than the ones hovering around my head :)

  • 7 May 2021

Overcast and appearance of rain soon. No rain in past 24 hours. 4 Canada Geese swimming along in the calm water and some songbirds heard in the trees. Very peaceful here today.

  • 6 May 2021

Centennial Park in Town of Deseronto by Heather Ross

Mostly sunny with some clouds and moderate winds. No rain in past 24 hours. Lots of trucks/trailers parked in the lot indicating about 15 boats out on the lake launched from here. Small boat tied up at the dock. No birds around at all today.

  • 6 May 2021

First Bridge on County Rd 28 by Don Ross

Sunny and calm with some clouds beginning. No rain in past 24 hours. Beaver swimming away when I came. Red winged blackbirds and songbirds and swans here. Some green algae floating in some parts of the marsh. Dam the beaver built that is keeping the water levels higher right now is broken in the middle with water flowing past so some work to do by that beaver once I leave it alone.

  • 6 May 2021

East Bayshore Waterfront Park and Herchimer Rd Boat Launch in Belleville by Don Ross

Sunny and calm morning. No rain in past 24 hours. Single loon fishing on the water, & some ducks and seagulls around too. Summer dock is in place so tested off the end . Also took a depth measurement off the solid pier where we test when the summer dock not in, and it was 1.45 M same as it was back in March.

  • 6 May 2021

Sunny calm day with no rain in past 24 hours. Few pigeons flying around.

  • 3 May 2021

Birdhouse City Pond by Don Ross

Overcast with some sunny breaks and quite windy. Had around 8 MM rainfall over past 24 hours. Some songbirds around and water bugs on the pond surface. Beavers have been busy with their dam at the end of the pond where the stream flows out, and the higher water levels since last month show the results of their efforts.

  • 30 April 2021

Public Boat Launch at Wellington Harbour on West Lake by Don Ross

  • 27 April 2021

Outlet River at Bridge on County Rd 18 by Don Ross

Partly cloudy with moderate winds, and calm water. Less than 1 Mm rain in past 24 hours. Family from Trenton heading out canoeing and kayaking while I was there testing so we chatted about Water Rangers, Watersheds Canada and Natural Edge since they have friends on Weller’s Bay so I suggested they let them know about the Pugnose Shiner project this summer and the shoreline restoration program too.

  • 26 April 2021

Sunny windy day. No rain in past 24 hours. Pair of ducks took off as I came along, otherwise pretty quiet for wildlife today. Minimal flow of water under the bridge.

  • 26 April 2021

Black River marsh outlet from stream by Don Ross

Overcast and calm now. No rain in past 24 hours. Lots of red-winged blackbirds in the marsh, but the swans who normally nest here have left for the Millpond instead as the water levels are so low here in the river now.
