Behind Tim Horton's on N end of Bancroft on Hwy 2 by Heather Ross

Sunny and windy day with very high water levels around this river and region, and fast flowing current. Met a man who was watching us testing and spoke with us afterwards, who had taught Environmental Science for many years in College, did work with the Environment Ministry and lived nearby with a cottage on a lake. Had a nice chat about this program and gave him the card and suggested he reach out to contact WR.

Kiwanis Boat Launch off Hwy 62 S of Madoc by Heather Ross

Sunny and windy day. I would think the ice has been off for at least a week now and the waterline is very high up the shore, covering the dock that we’d normally be testing depth from the very end after all sections are installed later in the season. The depth from the shore where I could reach out was .35 so didn’t enter in the data so that it wouldn’t skew the avg.

  • 29 March 2021

Little Bluff Conservation Area by Heather Ross

Sunny, windy day with about 7 Mm rain in past 24 hours, after a very strong wind pattern yesterday. Flock of ducks out on the lake flew off when we came to test at the beach under the bluff. Few ducks remained behind to watch us :)

  • 28 March 2021

Centennial Park in Town of Deseronto by Don Ross

Raining fairly hard and windy now. No dock in place yet to took no depth measurements this time. No wildlife around.

  • 27 March 2021

Outlet River at Bridge on County Rd 18 by Don Ross

Overcast with moderate winds. 9 MM rainfall in past 24 hours. Some crows flying around and squawking. Shoreline has receded a lot from usual spot so the depth results will be skewed a bit due to being able to reach the deeper area now with the secchi disc.

  • 25 March 2021

West end of Hamlet of Milford at furthest west end of Millpond by Don Ross

Sunny day with moderate winds . Overnight we had a thunderstorm that brought some badly needed rainfall....9 Mm in a short period of time. Pair of swans and some Canada Geese out on the pond. Good flow of water into the pond and lots over the waterfalls.

  • 23 March 2021

East Bayshore Waterfront Park and Herchimer Rd Boat Launch in Belleville by Heather Ross

  • 23 March 2021

Picton Harbour at Mouth of Marsh Creek by Don Ross

Hazy day with moderate winds and no rain in past 24 hours. Lots of seagulls and ducks sitting out on the thin ice that still remains further out in the harbour. Water appears quite greenish and murky . Very low levels and no flow through the culvert here. A lone fisherman along the shore. Note: Not sure why the conductivity reading was so much higher than normally found here....could be my metre doing something whacky? Took several readings to be sure and all were high so could be correct.

  • 23 March 2021

Black River outflow to Lake Ontario by Deb Hudson

The ice went out two weeks ago. There were ducks, geese, swans, heron and frogs at the river.

  • 22 March 2021

Pt. Petre Provincial Wildlife Area by Don Ross

Sunny and calm day with no rain in past 24 hours, or for weeks actually. Seagulls and canada geese around and songbirds too. Plenty of zebra mussel shells along the rocks and the waterline is very far out now for so early in the year. Could this be the year waterfront property owners are complaining about having to add lengths to their docks to reach water, after recent years being flooded out?

  • 21 March 2021

Cherry Valley Lions Memorial Park Boat Launch Dock by Don Ross

Sunny and calm day with no rain over past 24 hours. Already the county is showing signs of low snow melt and low water levels...ominous sign for summer unless we get a really wet spring in April. Lots of ducks, geese and swans out on East Lake where the river empties into the lake. Woodpeckers and songbirds can be heard here today loud and clear.

  • 18 March 2021

Victoria Park & Harbour. Mouth of Moira River entering the Bay of Quinte by Don Ross

Overcast and windy. Under 1 Mm rain in past 24 hours in the region. Majority of the ice is gone here and water flowing fast into the lake, although levels seem low. Flocks of Canada Geese, ducks and a few swans are in the river mouth.

  • 14 March 2021

Stream/falls at Cty Rd 10 near Cty Rd 13 by Don Ross

  • 13 March 2021

South Bay Cres Public Boat Launch by Heather Ross

No rain in past 24 hours. Sunny and bit windy today. 3 white swans and a flock of Canada Geese seen flying overhead and rooster crowing in the house nearby. 2 beaver lodges in the river here and think there could be their dam inside the culvert which is causing the levels to be so low here now considering the snow melt we’ve had.
