  • 12 November 2020

Centennial Park in Town of Deseronto by Heather Ross

Sunny with a few clouds and very calm winds and lake surface. Few seagulls and some ducks. Fishermen came in to dock and said no fish today!

  • 12 November 2020

First Bridge on County Rd 28 by Don Ross

Sunny with some clouds and calm. No rain in past 24 hours. Beavers have built a dam on the other side of this road so water level there is good but on this side where we test it has become very low and mud bottom now showing for first time that I’ve seen.

  • 12 November 2020

Victoria Park & Harbour. Mouth of Moira River entering the Bay of Quinte by Don Ross

Sunny with just a few clouds and calm winds. No rain in past 24 hours. Some ducks and Canada Geese around.

  • 12 November 2020

East Bayshore Waterfront Park and Herchimer Rd Boat Launch in Belleville by Don Ross

Sunny with a few clouds and very calm. Many birds out in the lake...Geese, ducks, swans and seagulls. Summer dock has been removed so tested from end of the permanent dock instead. No rainfall in past 24 hours.

  • 12 November 2020

  • 12 November 2020

Picton Harbour at Mouth of Marsh Creek by Don Ross

Partly cloudy and calm. No rain in past 24 hours. Lots of seagulls flying around and on the water. Harbour where creek enters the culvert under the road is lowest I’ve seen it with mud bottom showing now.

  • 11 November 2020

Public Boat Launch at Wellington Harbour on West Lake by Heather Ross

Overcast with bit of drizzling rainfall at times. Had about 9 Mm rainfall overnight. Lots of Canada Geese, ducks and some swans on the water and seagulls flying around. Water here always has a greenish hue that isn’t algae and still allows the water to be clear.

  • 9 November 2020

Prinyer’s Cove Park & Boat Launch by Heather Ross

Sunny and calm day with a few wispy clouds in the sky. No rain in past 24 hours. No wildlife around, not even seagulls, ducks of geese in this location today, but lots on the lake in other areas we walked to. A few small boats out fishing.

  • 8 November 2020

Prince Edward Point by Don Ross

Sunny clear skies with moderate winds and calm water on the lake here. No rain in past 24 hours. No wildlife around, just some folks strolling along the limestone ledge shoreline and some others at the bird observatory. Some green slime on the rocks right near the drop off point so have to be careful not to slip there.

  • 7 November 2020

    RVCA Watershed by Heather Ross

Sunny day with some clouds forming. No rain in past 24 hours. Some ducks swimming about in the water , lots of cattails , and further out in the river boats could be seen. Nice lady stopped on the boardwalk where we were testing and was interested in watching us and learning about the tests so our grandkids helped us explain each test to her as we did them and gave her a card to go to the website to learn more. They were good little ambassadors for Water Rangers today and she left us with a real smile on her face. :)

  • 5 November 2020

Outlet River at Bridge on County Rd 18 by Don Ross

Overcast and hazy sky and calm, with no rainfall over past 24 hours. Water is totally still. Only a few crows seen and heard, otherwise so quiet. Garbage strewn into the woods nearby which I couldn’t take away as too much of it and no way to bring home on my bike. Always saddens me to see evidence everywhere we go of humans recklessness and lack of care for our environment....why are they out here enjoying the beauty of nature only to leave their trash behind as thanks?

  • 5 November 2020

Cherry Valley Lions Memorial Park Boat Launch Dock by Don Ross

Hazy day and not very windy at all. No rain in past 24 hours. Very quiet here today with none of the usual red-winged blackbirds around or anything else. A few dozen seedling trees have been planted nearby recently so hope most of them make it through their first winter here.

  • 4 November 2020

Pt. Petre Provincial Wildlife Area by Don Ross

No rain in past 24 hours. Today is sunny and clear and unusually warm for November, even for here in The County. Bit of a chop on the lake and the shoreline is very far out compared to usual, as it seems they’ve managed the lake levels all this year to avoid flooding of properties as happened some other years. No birds or critters around. Fire pit full of trash and cans, bottles, etc so took what I could manage to get on my bike to bring home and recycle & dispose.

  • 3 November 2020

Front St Farmer’s Market at Riverfront Square by Don Ross

Bit overcast today and calm.....no rain in past 24 hours. Lots of air traffic from Trenton Airbase overhead and barge doing dredging in the river downstream near the mouth of the river into Lake Ontario. Some seagulls flying around.

  • 3 November 2020

    Ottawa River by Inga Chisholm

While winter testing I'll bring a pencil because both of my pens froze. The air thermometer with the test kit doesn't seem to go past zero degrees so I will bring my own air temperature thermometer. My mid-winter testing will be through an ice fishing hole.😁

  • 30 October 2020

South Bay Cres Public Boat Launch by Don Ross

Sunny and cold day with some thin clouds. Mildly windy. No rain in past 24 hours. Few ducks on the creek that left when I arrived, otherwise quiet. Water level very low and green algae evident.

  • 30 October 2020

    Smiths Bay by Don Chisholm

A cool day leading to the first frost of the season in the evening.

  • 24 October 2020

East side of Hamlet of Milford K0K2P0 by Don Ross

Partly cloudy and windy. 5 MM rain last night that came all at once. Hadn’t been able to test here most of the summer due to no water in the river at all but finally in past week it’s beginning to flow over the dam . Lots of Canada Geese in the Millpond above the dam.

  • 16 October 2020

Little Bluff Conservation Area by Don Ross

Thanks to Quinte Conservation for allowing me in today to do our water testing that hasn’t been done since July 19th due to the park being closed to the public since then and still closed now. Had about 15+ MM rainfall in past 24 hours. Overcast now. Some hawks & osprey soaring overhead in the skies, along with a passing transport plane from Trenton airbase doing practice runs. Otherwise peaceful and quiet. Picked up an empty water bottle at the bottom of the steps to the beach and took home for recycling.
