  Bellevue Park duck pond by Community Volunteers

  There was one herring present among the ducks, not a lot of leaves on the pond for the season. Park is a pollution source in the immediate surroundings. steep hill in front of the pond with big and unstable rocks. It will be slippery when wet. Gloves are recommended.

  East Davignon Farwell Terrace (near Tim Hortons) by Community Volunteers

  Wear boots to enter into the river because the dominant substrate on the right bank riparian is clay.

  Fort Creek Channel at Carmen's Way by Community Volunteers

  Overgrown vegetation on the boulders. Watch your steps as climb down to reach the location. Be careful while crossing the river from the left side of the storm drainage and wear boots. Lots of algae and boulders are slippery.

  Root River Wishart Park by Community Volunteers

  Water is lower than last week. It is still not moving at all. It hasn't rained since we visited last. Lots of crayfish visible and water temperature felt cooler. The beaver is still very active at the location with multiple dams increasing in size. Pollution sources in the immediate surroundings - Dog park. The water is not as flooded as last week. Beware dog feces on ground and dogs with no leash.

  No beaver sightings today but more trees have been cut which suggests ongoing activity. Watch for traffic and park well off the highway.

  Cold Water Creek at Old Garden River Road by Community Volunteers

  The grass around the culvert is down and the woody debris has been removed that the beaver had built up in May. Now the culvert is pulling in water at a faster rate. The water is surging because of the two culverts not because of water level. Watch your step through the vegetation and look for unstable walks and uneven ground.

  Lots of small fish. litter is observed on the water surface. Wear boots to enter in the water.

  Crystal Creek Case Rd by Community Volunteers

  Dam is bigger. After the rain at the beginning of last monitoring day, the beaver has been active and reformed the dam. There is water flowing on the other side of the culvert but the water level is higher than it has ever been, due to the beaver dam in the culvert. Be careful of uneven ground. The creek is flooded so there is excess water and less room to work in. The vegetation is now closer to waters edge. The beaver has been very busy at this culvert once again.

  Root River Branch Fourth Line E by Community Volunteers

  Iron oxide bacteria still seeping from the ground in large amounts on right bank. There is no sign of any fish anywhere. We waited and went into the pools where they were discovered before. The walk down to the culvert is dangerous and the path is overgrown with vegetation. Be careful of unstable and unlevel ground.

  The leaves are falling drastically as we enter in the Fall. Big fish are seen this time. The puffy mushrooms are dying and a squirrel is playing around.

  The water looked clear , but has started to have some leaves arrive. The forests on banks left and right have begun to change color. There is so much garbage here and now broken glass. This area could use a litter cleanup asap. The rip rap along the left bank can be difficult to navigate down to the sampling location.

  The water is still and not moving. Detritus is accumulating. The rocks were unstable, be aware of unstable rocks and falling. Take care.

  I saw several fish jumping, as well as some minnows in the shallows under the bridge. Very slow. Could not tell which way the water was flowing.

  The beaver action is changing the characteristics of the river quickly. There are photos from 2 days ago and they are very different than this visit. We did not monitor water quality last time, just took pictures to watch beavers innovation and ensure no danger arises. Water level is rising quickly with the additional rain, pools are almost as high as in the spring. The water is flooding towards the path to access the trail to the sample site. The beavers have taken down two trees that have blocked the pathway. You have to walk around- be careful lots of sharp branches.
