The sample site had to be moved because the water is hidden under many leaves. The walk down the rocks to the sample site is steep and slippery. You can not see the water through the leaves so the monitoring site had to be moved over a few metres.

  • 16 October 2024

  • 13 October 2024

Cold Water Creek at Old Garden River Road by Community Volunteers

Water was low and the flow of the water has visually increased towards the culverts. There is some algae that is growing and an aquatic plant I am not familiar with. It would be beneficial to know someone who we can ask about algae species. Watch your step through the vegetation and by the sample location. The rip rap is slippery and some are unstable.

  • 13 October 2024

Crystal Creek Case Rd by Community Volunteers

The beaver dam in the culvert is incredible in size. The water is now approximately 2 feet above the culvert passage but is not flowing, instead a small trickle of water is passing on the sides of the culverts where water is able to pass. The beaver has been busy. A trail cam would be a good asset to watch what is happening at these sites when night comes. The water is high and there is nowhere to sample without being in vegetation. Be careful of footing and do not go near the beaver dam in the culvert. This is a major hazard and is a dangerous area to approach.
