12 November 2024
Bellevue Park Topsail Island by Community Volunteers
Everything seems pretty clear at the location and no hazard for monitoring. The water level seems lower than usual. Maybe because of a tide or huge ship, the water level on the shoreline was rising and getting lower.

Little Carp River Carpin Beach Rd by Community Volunteers
Have seen a chipmunk at the location. Overgrown vegetation is decaying. No leaves on trees. The water level is higher than usual. The pond on the other side of a culvert is frozen. Presence of wildlife. A wood log which is a benchmark at this location is completely covered in sand under the water.

Big Carp River Herkimer Rd by Community Volunteers
As I was departing the site, I noticed fishing lures, bobbers and line strung up on the power line above the water beside the bridge. They were quite sun faded, indicating that they had been there a while. Eventually they will likely fall into the water due to sun rot of the fishing line. 3 ducks were seen in the river, I could not make an ID. The water level was visibly lower than last week, which was surprising given the recent rain. There is not a lot of aquatic vegetation in the area. In the shoreline area, tree species such as red maple, white spruce, speckled alder and white pine were noted.

West Davignon Brookfield Ave by Community Volunteers
Lots of overgrown vegetation. Old path is inaccessible due to high water level. Walk down from right side of the culvert on the cliff to access the same spot. Do not recommend to go solo for monitoring at this location when water level is higher. Water clarity is opaque due to higher water flow and higher water level. Lots of foam on the water surface.
-
10 November 2024
Upper Carp River at Creek Rd/Third Line W by Community Volunteers
Lots of natural debris around and it started decaying. Foam on the surface but could be because of natural debris. The water level is higher than usual and no signs of algae anymore.

10 November 2024
East Davignon Creek Allens Side (N of 2nd Ln W) by Community Volunteers
The creek is higher than usual. All algae is gone and clearly riverbed is visible. Lots of foam on the surface.
-
8 November 2024
East Davignon Farwell Terrace (near Tim Hortons) by Community Volunteers
The water level is higher than usual. Lots of natural debris on the surface and foam as well. Presence of ducks in the stream.

8 November 2024
Fort Creek Channel at Carmen's Way by Community Volunteers
Overgrown vegetation is dying, but still can't see the bottom. Boulders on riprap are moving so be careful. Monitoring location is right beside the main road therefore need to park vehicle in the construction company's parking. Weather was windy and hard to balance on that rock. Do not recommend to go solo.

Big Carp River Herkimer Rd by Community Volunteers
For the visibility measured by the secchi disk, the depth of visibility would not be any deeper if the water was. The water was noticeably murkier than the previous test completed Oct 31. As stated before, this is likely due to the recent rainfall. There was no health concerns with the site. At the site, 2 common mergansers (I believe) were seen swimming up the river. The water was murkier than the previous report, likely due to the rain stirring up the water and pushing in debris from the bank. Mustelidae tracks were seen at the site. No water uses seen in immediate area.

Crystal Creek Case Rd by Community Volunteers
This dam is unreal and incredibly dangerous. At this point we need to ensure that no one is getting too close to the dam, the rocks we usually stand on are eroded from water running through them, it is very uneven footing. Do not go near the dam and be careful as the water has flooded above riparian walls.
-
5 November 2024
Root River Fourth Line E by Community Volunteers
The water was steady, lots of natural debris(leaves ) All of the leaves have fallen from right bank. The Japanese knotweed is just changing color to deep mustard yellow. Ask Elaine who installs garbage cans in town. this site is disgusting, with condoms, and empties. The rocks are slippery and the leaves covering the rocks and the river are slippery and hard to gauge where the water is.

1 November 2024
Little Carp River Carpin Beach Rd by Community Volunteers
The water level is higher than usual. Lots of natural debris in the water.

Upper Carp River at Creek Rd/Third Line W by Community Volunteers
No leaves on the tree. Lots of natural debris not only on the water's surface, but it's everywhere. The water level is higher than usual. Can't see algae usually but can see it when dumping the camera in the water and capturing pictures. Some strange odor, but may be it's from natural debris.

1 November 2024
East Davignon Creek Allens Side (N of 2nd Ln W) by Community Volunteers
The water level is increased. No leaves on the tree and lots of natural debris on the water surface. Started seeing a riverbed which was previously covered in the algae. The water level is increased. Root River Hwy 17E by Community Volunteers
Algae, water is low, beaver around, opaque water.

31 October 2024
Big Carp River Herkimer Rd by Community Volunteers
The water was cloudy but it was raining very hard which would disrupt the water, and could increase conductivity. The water was still , but this could change of the rainfall received today. We tried to keep the rain away from reaching the tests but the rain could have affected the conductivity and test strips IF they did get wet from the rain. The road is closed on both ends, and is not allowing any cars to be on the bridge. There is two closure signs. The rocks on the path to the sample location are very slippery when wet.

Root River Old Garden River by Community Volunteers
The water was shallow. Just starting salinity baseline for this area. There was a abundance of algae, still thriving on top of the Iron oxide bacteria. The rocks are very unstable , and I personally fell twice. The rain has eroded underneath the rocks and made them all not secure in the ground, I recommend no one comes to this site right now.

East Davignon Creek Allens Side (N of 2nd Ln W) by Community Volunteers
Lots of natural debris on the water's surface. Algae is dying.
-
27 October 2024
Cold Water Creek at Old Garden River Road by Community Volunteers
There is very alive algae feeding off what looks like iron but its coming out of a stump of sorts. See photos. There is a few patches of algae and Elodea canadennis. The rocks are slippery by the site. The vegetation is still high and burrs get on everything.

Root River Wishart Park by Community Volunteers
Water was extremely high but caused by the Beaver. The algae has died and looks like it is starting to decay. Can not access the deeper sample site because it is all underwater. The leaves have hidden the uneven terrain on the path, watch your ankles. The beaver has been busy and barricaded the path, it is usually not blocked for long, only while he moves his trim.
