  • 7 September 2024

Cold Water Creek at Old Garden River Road by Community Volunteers

There is aquatic plants growing upstream of the site. There is algae present on the left bank 15 feet upstream from the sample site. Three noticeable evergreen's that are dying, they are along the riparian beside a larger tree that a beaver has cut down The flow is very fast below the sample site on the other side of the culvert- which has a sand bottom. Fish were seen upstream by the dead trees in a pool on the left bank. The site is overgrown with vegetation watch your step as the ground is uneven. beware of snakes.

  • 7 September 2024

Crystal Creek Case Rd by Community Volunteers

"There was a beautiful heron that was approx 50 feet upstream from the site, it flew away- scared me as it was so big. Unidentifiable. The dammed area in the culvert has been taken over by a beaver - look at photos. it has changed the flow and level of the water at the sample site- see pictures of dam overflow and water level at the culvert. .44m looked at past photos for comparison. There was brown algae- diatoms present- no sign of any long threaded algae in the deep part of the pool must have washed away or died." be careful if you walk down the boulder hill or the overgrown vegetation both paths have a variety of safety concerns- footing is unstable or unlevel

  • 7 September 2024

Root River Fourth Line E by Community Volunteers

Foam present. There is brown algae on the substrate. I agree with suggestion to move the site next spring to right bank. The sample site should be moved past the confluence of the rivers when they are mixed. There is a variety of invasive species at the site- Japanese Knotweed is large. The site was clear of overgrown vegetation- watch your step down to sample site- Some of the rip rap is not stable

  • 7 September 2024

There was a bobber and lure wrapper at the site indicating someone was trying to fish. Documented physical characteristics(substrate, canopy etc) before fall begins. The rip-rap on the walk to the sample site is unstable- the rocks by the site are unstable.
