Observations

  • 29 December 2023

Unstead Exit (outflow) by Trevor Murrells

There were a few pond plants near to the exit pipe and beneath the dam. A small amount of foam (bubbles) collected around the some of the pond plants.

Outlet into Pond Wood by Trevor Murrells

There were a few dead branches floating on the surface of the water, away from the two pipes that bring in water from other lagoons. What we believe could be another exit point to the reserve (low circular brick structure) was completely submerged today which wasn't the case last month or the month before.

Outflow from GSTW into Wey Natural River: Trunley Heath Road by Trevor Murrells

The River level was above the outflow pipe, so it was not possible to take a sample directly from the pipe which I have been doing so far (testing at this location is focused on what is entering the river directly from the sewerage treatment works)

  • 29 December 2023

Natural Wey River at Unstead close to bridge (Northside) by Trevor Murrells

  • 3 December 2023

Landings Wood Stream by David M Jones

No issues. Small stream running 'regularly'., as expected.

  • 25 November 2023

Peperharrow swimming spot, by fish bypass by Rachel Hargreaves

Medium flow, river now running higher

  • 25 November 2023

River wey - Hellditch source (need to check) by James Alvarez

  • 25 November 2023

    East Lagoon by Trevor Murrells

There was a thin sheet of ice covering most of the lagoon. I sampled from an area that was ice free near the edge of the lagoon. Where I sampled the water reached about halfway up my Wellington boots. As I walked into the lagoon, breaking the ice as I went, the silt was easily disturbed. I managed to avoid churning up the silt at the sample point.

From Godalming Treatment Works by Trevor Murrells

Lots of foam to the east of the inlet along the culvert (as usual when water is coming in from GSTW). The water had a washing machine smell.

  • 25 November 2023

Unstead Exit (outflow) by Trevor Murrells

Some bubbles were caused by the water flowing over the small dam. Pond plants could be seen beneath, and at the surface, of the water. There were nettles on either side of the bank, in front of the tower where the water leaves the wetland reserve.

  • 25 November 2023

Outlet into Pond Wood by Trevor Murrells

A water test was not undertaken at this location because there is no longer water anywhere near the pipe that feeds the pond, apart from a very small pool a metre or so from the pipe (see photo). Water is no longer entering the pond from the other lagoons. The pond was noticeably dry around the sampling point. There was evidence of water, at a much lower level than last month, some distance away.

  • 25 November 2023

Outflow from GSTW into Wey Natural River: Trunley Heath Road by Trevor Murrells

Bubbles were produced following a surge of water from the pipe. There was a washing machine smell.

  • 25 November 2023

Natural Wey River at Unstead close to bridge (Northside) by Trevor Murrells

Tree still fallen across part of the river downstream.

  • 24 November 2023

Polsted Lane/Withies Lane stream by Trevor Murrells

Much fuller and deeper than normal. Lots of leaves and some small branches on the surface. The exit point (water drains into a ditch) has become partially blocked and has dammed up some of the water behind it.

  • 19 November 2023

Farncombe boat house by Nicola Avery

Test completed within 5 minutes of boat passing through lock
