Observations

  • 29 March 2024

Landings Wood Stream by David M Jones

There are always a few birds around in the trees of this woodland environment adjacent to a small housing estate.

  • 29 March 2024

Unstead Exit (outflow) by Andrew Lockett

The surface had more foam than usual and what looks like threadlike mats of brown algae. The phosphate reading also seems high (0.3) and nitrate (4). This could be due to having been intentionally dropping water levels in the new scrapes and barrowing in some shingle (so some ground disturbance).

  • 29 March 2024

From Godalming Treatment Works by Andrew Lockett

Usual grey water smell along the culvert from the Sewage Treatment Works.

  • 29 March 2024

Outflow from GSTW into Wey Natural River: Trunley Heath Road by Trevor Murrells

The river level was above the outflow pipe so a sample taken directly from the pipe was not possible. The river level was the highest I have seen it.

  • 29 March 2024

Outlet into Pond Wood by Trevor Murrells

The sample was taken from a small pond fed by the two pipes, that was disconnected from a larger pond. Very little water was flowing out of the two pipes.

  • 29 March 2024

Natural Wey River at Unstead close to bridge (Northside) by Trevor Murrells

River level high. Water entering water meadow to the east and to a lesser extent the west side of the river.

  • 29 March 2024

Peperharrow swimming spot, by fish bypass by Rachel Hargreaves

River high(starting to overrun banks) and fast flowing, no visual signs of sewage

  • 24 February 2024

Peperharrow swimming spot, by fish bypass by Rachel Hargreaves

River very fast flowing, some scum on surface where caught in branches, evidence of flooding.

  • 24 February 2024

Godalming Wharf - River bend by Sainsbury's by Annabel Gibbs

River high and surging following week of heavy rain. Lots of foam on surface, water brown and cloudy.

  • 24 February 2024

Hell Ditch, Godalming by Annabel Gibbs

Water level particularly high and surging following week of heavy rain. Path to river at gate under water.

  • 24 February 2024

Landings Wood Stream by David M Jones

Bright, cold morning. Water colour and clarity were not opaque, just 'beige' and less clear than usual because the stream was high and surging from previous days of a lot of rain.

  • 23 February 2024

Unstead Exit (outflow) by Andrew Lockett

Small amount of clear foam on water surface, but water clear and plenty of healthy plantlife.

  • 23 February 2024

    East Lagoon by Andrew Lockett

Rained heavily yesterday so water quality in East Lagoon may benefit from this fresh rain water.

  • 23 February 2024

From Godalming Treatment Works by Andrew Lockett

As usual the sewage treatment plant exit into the culvert feeding into Unstead Wetland Reserve has a 'washing machine' smell and was grey coloured.

  • 23 February 2024

Outlet into Pond Wood by Trevor Murrells

There was a slow trickle coming out of the two pipes

  • 23 February 2024

Outflow from GSTW into Wey Natural River: Trunley Heath Road by Trevor Murrells

The river was at its highest level since I started testing. Yesterday there was persistent rainfall for much of the day. I was unable to sample directly from the pipe which was submerged.
