Great Head Becks 1 in Addyman Woods by Jane Stanbury

First photo is the testing site, second photo is the outlet pipe just a couple of metres round the bend in the beck which comes under the road. We crossed the beck and walked back along the ringroad verge which runs adjacent to it - extensive litter all along the verge from motorists. Ammonia reading is mg/L - took the opportunity to test as I have a hanna meter

  • 28 February 2026

Fox Wood Beck 3 by Jane Stanbury

Did some litter picking on the site today down by the Beck. There is a litter at the top of the banks. I walked up through the Beck picking out sewage rag along a 100 metre stretch - found 7 or 8 pieces which I will report to Yorkshire Water. I haven't done this before so they could in theory have been there for a few months. I've removed them - so we can tell if more sewage rag comes down. Photo 1 looking up from the testing site. Photo 2 outlet pipe. Photo 3 a close up of the scum/foam. Photo 4 and 5 some of the sewage rag RIverfly Test Score 3 1 flat bodied stone clinger 2 stoneflies 45 freshwater shrimp Plus 40 hoglice, leeches, red worms and white worms
