Ottawa River by Inga Chisholm
I have never seen the ice take so long to let go. The river opened up down the centre n the 13th but the shore ice lasted another three weeks. The flooding below the dam started on the 18th of April. The water levels in the reservoir above the dam did not come back to normal levels until the 3rd of July.

Black River outflow to Lake Ontario by Deb Hudson
It was sunny & breezy with cirrus clouds. There was a kingfisher, vulture & pair of ducks on the river. One of the garbage cans from the Black River Cheese Co. was at the river's edge and I let the staff in the store know about it.

East Bayshore Waterfront Park and Herchimer Rd Boat Launch in Belleville by Don Ross
No rainfall in past 24 hours. Partly cloudy and very windy. Whitecaps on the open water beyond where there is still some thin ice around the harbour. Seagulls, ducks, geese and swans around the shore & on water & ice. Some garbage frozen into the ice along the dock. Took sample from end of the permanent dock where water was open, as summer dock isn't installed yet.

Picton Harbour at Mouth of Marsh Creek by Heather Ross
No rainfall in past 24 hrs. Overcast with medium strong winds. Many seagulls around. Ice is off much of the harbour but sill some thin ice further out.

Cherry Valley Lions Memorial Park Boat Launch Dock by Heather Ross
No rainfall in past 24 hrs. 2 white swans flying overhead as we arrived heading out into East Lake. Many red-winged blackbirds active and singing. Currently overcast with medium strong winds. River is clear of ice and some of East Lake but ice further out on the lake still visible.

East side of Hamlet of Milford K0K2P0 by Don Ross
Sunny day with just a few clouds and moderate winds. 3 MM of snow overnight has mostly gone now. Plastic water bottles and coffee cup washed up in the foam along shore so took them away for recycling and garbage. Very strong flows of water over the dam and into the river so our test was done from shore....as summer goes along and this area dries up we need to go out along the rocks into mid stream to get enough water to test. Wish it could stay like this forever.

West end of Hamlet of Milford at furthest west end of Millpond by Don Ross
Gorgeous sunny day, bit cool with med winds. 3 cm of snow overnight but melted away now. Hawk soaring overhead looking for a meal. Waterfalls roaring up at the top of the hill and strong current along the river, under bridge and into millpond. Ice off maybe 50% of the ponds total length. Spoke at length about water rangers testing with a neighbour walking by who may consider one of our lending kits to bring kayaking when her and her biologist husband go out in summer.

Has been raining during past 24 hours , about 14 mm, and began raining again just at end of my testing. Overcast and calm winds, Current flowing very fast. Songbirds can be heard but not seen.

Black River outflow to Lake Ontario by Don Ross
Overcast & windy with no rainfall in past 24 hours. Small beaver swimming up river under the bridge...smacked tail and scurried off when I came near the shore. Ducks & geese in the river...current strong with these winds. Unusual to see zebra shells along the shoreline here where we test regularly during the year and have never seen them here before.

Sunny and windy day. No rainfall in past 24 hrs. Swans and blackbirds in the marsh and on the river. Water flowing quite strongly through the culvert from the other side under the road.
