Nonquon River Environmental Education Centre by Heather Ross

Full Ross water rangers team on duty :) Met a man from the local health unit who was testing the water used by the centre so we told him all about Water Rangers and gave him a card to go to the site. He's a fisherman too so was very interested in all the testing done. Saw flocks of ducks, mourning doves, chichadees, white moths, butterflies, grasshoppers, frog, a slug, dragon flies and mosquitoes. So much green slimy algae everywhere on the water surface and weeds below , with many bullrushes. The conductivity reading was the highest we've ever seen and the DO was the lowest of anywhere we have tested!

Near 15 KM mark in Park heading east on Hwy 60 by Heather Ross

Sunny with moderate winds and calm water. Songbirds can be heard but not seen. Family from around Ottawa was there having a break and we talked a lot about the water testing and they took a W/R card as they belong to a cottage association that is having difficulties with invasive species and this new Ontario govt is not making it easy to afford them doing some netting to get a handle on the issues.

About 21mm rain in past 48 hours after a long dry spell in this area. Boat launch and dock still somewhat affected by high lake levels but not as much as it was. Bit of a current flowing as even during the 10 mins I was there testing the water had withdrawn enough that I didn't have to hop from dock onto picnic table to avoid getting feet soaked as I had to when I arrived.
