    Root River Old Garden River by Community Volunteers

    The water level was higher then normal but it was raining and had been raining since the day before. The water colour has changed, it is dominantly reddish/orange. There was no wildlife on the river- everyone was hiding due to the heavy rains. There was no sign of any algae this monitoring visit- there was iron oxidizing bacteria on the water shoreline and in the water where it is shallow- possibility indicating sulphur-reducing bacteria from spring water inlet. Groundwater has been observed entering the river.

    There was no wildlife observed. it was very windy. There was an unusual amount of traffic. There is laid grasses that could be bent down due to wildlife or it could be from the force of the rainfall event pushing the grasses down-

    Crystal Creek Case Rd by Community Volunteers

    There was no wildlife observed. The maples are starting to change colour to orange and red. The beaver dam is much bigger and is blocking the culvert. The ends of the sticks show that it is a beaver and not just accumulation of natural debris- see photos. There was a rainfall event in the past 24hrs, but I could not collect Physical characteristics because it was too dangerous. The water colour has changed and appears to be very reddish orange- more on the red hue.

    Water was very cloudy, high turbidity compared to previous sample days. Any algae on rocks could not be observed due to high turbidity.
