East Davignon Farwell Terrace (near Tim Hortons) by Community Volunteers

Upstream from the monitoring location, creek flows underneath a concrete culvert (a type of bridge that allows water to pass under a road). In addition to the main creek flow, there are two smaller pipes visible on either side of the culvert walls, each discharging additional water into the creek (could be stormwater outflows but not sure). A pipe on the left bank is discharging brown coloured water. It is clearly visible two different water mixing under the culvert and making the entire creek's clarity opaque. Colour on the Teststrip for pH is darker than 8.4. However, 8.4 is the highest number on the Teststrip, therefore as a value, 8.4 is entered.

Root River Old Garden River by Community Volunteers

There were two beavers that came on site while I was monitoring. I believe it was two of the original families from last season but I can not be sure. The water was very still, almost like a pool. There were many fish and one corpse. A perfect buffet location for the beavers at this time of year. I know where the dam is but that secret will stay safe with me. There was iron-oxidizing bacteria by the new algae growth- see photos. There is brown algae and a brown sediment buildup. There is much erosion and the river is definitely wider, possibly that is why the river appears to be lower.

Cold Water Creek at Old Garden River Road by Community Volunteers

Forget-me nots floating and attached to right bank- across from site. There is an abundance of aquatic plants at this location and water forget-me-nots that are fully submerged under the water growing. There is multiple kinds of algae growth, but it is uncertain what type each one is. Lots of fine particles of natural debris floating in the water.

  • 27 July 2025

Crystal Creek Case Rd by Community Volunteers

There is two channels at the sample location this year as specified previously. The sample channel on right bank is the steady flow channel that does not have algae growth. The channel on left bank has algae beginning to form where it is shallow and more still then the right bank channel. The natural debris buildup from the fallen tree has not gotten closer to the culvert since last monitored on July 11th 2025. There was sand bag wrappers in the creek by the overflow ditch on the right bank by the level measure. They look like they are made of some sort of plastics. The water is very low in the culvert, lowest that I have seen.
