Coulonge River - End of Chemin de la Centrale by Jennifer Haughton
Location: 45.87804, -76.69680 Investigator: Jennifer Haughton Today (July 7, 2018), a community paddle event took place on the Coulonge River (Hosted by Will Amos - MP for Pontiac). This location was our starting point. There was no rain in the last 24 hours. The weather was clear/partly cloudy. There was some garbage (plastic bottles) on the shoreline.

Observed foam on the water surface, waters are calm, slow moving water, no wind. Sea gulls flying down the Ottawa River. Many birds singing in the trees.

Boom Island by Jenn Cuff
Calm water surface. No motorized watercraft on the Ottawa River. Observed a mature water snake hanging in a shrub in the sun then swimming alongside the island; approximately 2' in length. Dragonflies flying around. Local resident bird on the shoreline making a lot of noise. Sea gulls flying down the Ottawa River.

Boom Island by Jenn Cuff
The water surface is calm and clean in the bay. Birds are chirping in the trees. Sea gulls are flying down the Ottawa River. Wild flowers are in bloom on Boom Island. The rock cut of the Island is so attractive. An icon (anchor) from days gone by remains fixed on Boom Island

McCreary's Point by Jenn Cuff
Observed schools of minnows, a large musky breeched the surface with a large splash, birds are diving for fish, bugs cover the surface of the water. Lily pads and weed beds have flowered.

June 24, 2018, 9:15am Coordinates (45.52171, -76.47369) Investigators - Peter Haughton, Jennifer Haughton, Virginia MacLatchy Weather in past 24 hours - overcast with occasional light rain Weather now - clear/partly cloudy, light wind Wildlife observations - Mallard, Song Sparrow, 2 Great blue herons (flying near Webb's Bay) Very quiet in terms of activity on the river (no other boats)

Observed Canada geese. Motorized watercraft, fishing boats travel too fast along the Bonnechere River from the Horton Boat Launch out to the Ottawa River. Choppy waters turn to calm by sunset.
