near Glenora, Prince Edward County by Don Ross
Sunny and calm day with no rain for many days. Father and daughter out canoeing nearby and some tourists arriving. Small fish ( maybe sunfish ? ) of 1 to 4 or 5 " size swimming about in the water where we tested. Some weeds and rock slime but not very much.

Black River outflow to Lake Ontario by Heather Ross
No wind today. No rain for many days. Sunny. Lots of green algae bloom, weeds, bullrushes, lilly pads. Some fish jumping nearby.

East side of Hamlet of Milford K0K2P0 by Heather Ross
Sunny day with some clouds and mild winds. No rainfall for many days. No water flowing over the dam at all. Rocks and dam covered with slimey green algae. Can hear some geese on Millpond nearby and some birds in the woods. Crickets singing, lots of waterbugs and dragonflies. Water level very low now so walked out onto rocks in middle of creek for first time this year for testing.

West end of Hamlet of Milford at furthest west end of Millpond by Don Ross
Sunny day with some clouds and little winds. No rainfall for many days. Large grey water snake in the rocks along shore. Many waterbugs & dragonflies seen and can hear the crickets singing away. Couple of hawks circling above and Mourning Dove on the wires. Weeds and algae bloom much greater than a month ago. Spoke at length with a neighbour out walking her dog who asked what we were up to. Informed her about Water Rangers and directed her to the site and some other resources ( Quinte Conservation, Dept of Health, Ministries, campers associations, etc ) where she could follow up on a concern she had about issues on a lake near Belleville where she was going to send her kids to a camp.

South side of the point on Eden Road/ Rideau Canal side of Sand Lake by Heather Ross
Sunny and calm day. On this south side of the point on Sand Lake , just a short distance from the north side test location, the water is much different. Lots of weeds along shore , chopped up from the boat traffic along Rideau Canal system where the locks are nearby to the west. Algae bloom evident too. Small fish ( bass ? ) swimming by after we tested. Chipmunks, squirrels, and assorted birds all around in the woods ....bluejays, woodpeckers, finches, chickadees.

North side of the Point on Eden Road by Don Ross
Sunny and calm day....lots of mosquitoes. Water gently lapping on shore. Some boaters out on the lake. Saw many chipmunks, squirrels, jays, chickadees, pileated woodpecker, finches. Some weeds and slime on the rocks along shore.

Centennial Park in Town of Deseronto by Don Ross
Overcast skies, calm wind and water. Some green algae evident below water surface along the dock area. Some seagulls flying around and flock of crows on the shore in the park.

East Bayshore Waterfront Park and Herchimer Rd Boat Launch in Belleville by Heather Ross
Partly cloudy with low wind and calm water. Canada Geese and seagulls on the lake and shoreline. People fishing out in the lake and spoke with some who came in to dock, about what we were doing with Water Rangers . They had been catching large mouth bass today. Also spoke with some folks parked in their cars nearby who were curious about what we had been doing on the dock so filled them in on Water Rangers too...spreading the word! Everyone we have spoken too since we began this spring acts interested in this testing being done.

Pt. Petre Provincial Wildlife Area by Heather Ross
Sunny and clear with low winds. Water still high but receeding since last testing. Moderate waves lapping ashore. Loon and seagull swimming and fishing. Lots of small frogs hopping along shoreline and dragonflies in the air. Lots of garbage, cans, paper, diaper, etc from day trippers ....picked up and sorted properly to recycle. Spoke with a neighbour who was walking her dog and discussed what we were doing with Water Rangers testing.

Black River outflow to Lake Ontario by Deb Hudson
I could see scum along the shoreline. The river was flowing upstream under the bridge. A group of people were fishing from a new dock. It had been sunny today and winds were light.

Crest Mountain, Strathcona Park, British Columbia by Water_marked Water_marked
There are several ponds at the top of the mountain and many locations where water once was but has now dried up. Some snow was also observed at the top of the mountain. Members of our party sighted a white-tailed ptarmigan, an alpine chicken-like bird, that is on the "Blue List" as vulnerable to declines. Good news, there were also chicks!!

Sunny and warm with a slight breeze. The water is clear. Butterflies feeding at a nearby blossoming plant. Samplese taken near the shoreline by the east boundary of the Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park.

Cherry Valley Lions Memorial Park Boat Launch Dock by Don Ross
Partly cloudy with moderate winds. Can hear and see lots of red-winged blackbirds and rustling bull rushes. Green algae forming long edges of rushes and creek edges. Water is still covering about 1/3 of the dock but levels are lower than last visit here. Picked up some fishing line that was tangled in the grass by the dock. Someone coming in to launch their boat as we were leaving.

East side of Hamlet of Milford K0K2P0 by Don Ross
Overcast with partial sunshine breaking through....calm winds. Some white foamy scum accumulated on the rocks on water surface and brown slime on bottom rocks. Medium water flow over the dam. Some white moths flying around and logs of small water bugs on the river surface. Very overgrown now on the stepp path down to waters edge so need to be careful walking down there.

West end of Hamlet of Milford at furthest west end of Millpond by Heather Ross
Overcast with calm winds. Water very still. Waterfalls can still be heard a bit. Lots of green algae pond scum accumulating now along shore and working its way out into pond. Picked up some cans and plastic garbage at the site. Can hear some birds and saw Grey Heron fly overhead across the pond. Spoke with 2 fishermen who were fishing off the bridge, talked about Water Rangers and the testing we do and they were quite interested. They have been catching some bass, carp and pike here regularly.

Port Perry Marina near Palmer Park by Don Ross
Very murky and weedy water with a bit of an odour. Sunny with mild wind, calm water. Quite a few people fishing from the docks and some boating activity from the marina.

Little Bluff Conservation Area by Heather Ross
Calm and sunny warm day with very still and clear water. Lake level has receeded since last time here. Still tons of driftwood piled along upper shoreline, which people have been creating artistic shapes with.....boats, teepees, dinosaurs, etc. Sailboats anchored offshore and some tourists exploring the beach and trails. Took photos of large water snake swimming close to shore with something in it's mouth.

Very humid and sunny with clouds beginning to build now. Calm winds and lake. Lots of seagulls gathered out on the lake. Some fishermen going out and others coming back in, reporting on good fishing for pickeral. Evidence easily visible of green algae bloom taking place now compared with a month ago when testing done .
