Winfield Creek at Emerson School by Maureen Keil
My Quantab unit measurement was actually 9.0 units. The PPM conversion doesn't go that high up on the card. I looked online and the company said to record it as >628ppm. There were chunks of submerged slushy ice under the top current of water, and two pairs of mallards. I felt like the ducks must have been swimming in brine.

Surroundings: Relatively high salt use as a result of previous snowstorm. Seems to be contained on the street well. There is a large snow bed riverside. I used a string on a bottle with a weight to collect the sample. Cold wind chill.

Had to move to a nearby location due to the water flow change with the removal of the dam. Was able to collect water by using a cup/string/stick from shore. Had a robin follow us around! Also saw a cardinal, red-breasted nuthatch, downy woodpecker

Ice on the shorelines so measured off the bridge. Water flow looks faster and less silty than normal, likely due to dam removal.
