28 February 2017
Perch Creek at Doyle Road by Couchiching Conservancy
Creek very deep and fast moving, too dangerous to accurately measure depth. Creek was approximately 12 inches below bottom of bridge. Took samples from opposite bank from usual because that spot gave us better access to the stream. More vehicles than usual, most of them hydro pole repair trucks. Chickadees both seen and heard, crow heard calling in the distance.
-
28 February 2017
Perch Creek Headwaters by Meagan Coughlin
Patches of snow still present, creek has flooded its bank. Chickadees calling in the distance. Runoff from the roadside ditch joining Perch Creek at the culvert, this is where the chloride test was taken. Another test was taken upstream, and got a chloride reading of 16 ppm. A chloride test on the runoff from the ditch got a chloride reading of 68 ppm.
