  Perch Creek at Doyle Road by Couchiching Conservancy

  Many aquatic insect larvae, 1 leech. Nuthatches, blue jays, 1 bullfrog calling. Possible beaver dam downstream, flooding on banks.

  Perch Creek Headwaters by Meagan Coughlin

  3 green frogs, 1 leopard frog, water strider sighted. Lots of algae on substrate near banks, slow-moving current.

  3 minnows approx 2 inches long.

  Perch Creek at Doyle Road by Couchiching Conservancy

  Sculpin sighted, windy at site, muskrat swam down river towards us but turned tail when it realized we were there, very little birdsong, mostly chickadees.

  Creek is calm, very little current. 1 water beetle and 1 water strider. 3 green frogs, 1 leopard frog, lots of submergent vegetation

  Sand has shifted since last visit, picked a deep spot to sample, water is flowing but lots of vegetation covering creek in most areas.

  Leopard frog, 2 snakes (one unidentified and one northern water snake), several goldfinches, lots of small larvae, snails, water striders, one caddisfly larva in water, one adult caddisfly spotted.

  One green frog, 2 monarch butterflies, many bumblebees, at least 5 water striders. Queen Anne's lace, chicory and cattails doing well.

  Garter snake, cardinal flower, many small larvae, snails and water striders. Dead minnow under bridge.

  Four water striders, submergent vegetation not present during last trip.

  Turkey vulture, American goldfinch, white-throated sparrow, leopard frog. Less caddisfly larvae then before, but many still present. Lots of water striders and water boatmen, many snails.

  Water flowing very fast, many goldfinches heard, caddisfly larvae still present, many other smaller larvae clinging to rocks on stream bottom.

  More engine/truck noise than usual, possibly from construction site at Barrie Rd. Intersection. Saw several pond skaters in same area as the minnow.
