    Variety of birds including waterfowl on west lagoon with other birds in trees near platform/observation deck, including: Canada geese (~30), American coots (2), Ring-neck ducks (8 to 10), Mallards, Hooded mergansers, as well as Red-winged blackbirds, Anna's Hummingbird, American crows, and Song Sparrow. Ice starting to form at some areas in lagoon with recent cooling trend.

    Note: thin layer of ice had to be broken up to enable water sample to be done at this site. This likely accounted for lower water temperature than at East Lagoon today. Birds observed/heard in local area around sampling site included: Anna's Hummingbird, Varied Thrush, Spotted Towhee, Song Sparrow, Hooded Merganser, American Wigeons, Ring-necked Duck.
