Observations

  • 7 April 2025

DuPage River at Riverwalk South Covered Bridge by Shelley Birdsong

  • 7 April 2025

Crabapple Lake at Morton Arboretum by Linda Heuser

The quantab results are below the scale so the lowest value of ppm was recorded.

  • 6 April 2025

Timber Ridge Forest Preserve by Andy Culbertson

The trail was mostly dry. I could hear the water rushing as I approached the bridge. The noise was partly from a short waterfall at the point the creek disappeared from sight upstream from the bridge. I hadn't noticed it before, so it might be new. The gravel lot I usually park in now has "not a parking lot" signs, so I parked at Kline Creek Farm up the trail.

  • 6 April 2025

Eugene Field Park by Katie Nathenson

Beautiful day! Water flow was picking up.

  • 6 April 2025

Bayou Path Dr Stream in Atwater Subdivision by Lisa Hjorth

Water levels in the pond (inflow) were higher than previous test dates. Although plant vegetation blocked some of the flow at the yellow strainers (inflow), there still was a fast water flow (outflow) at the test site. The increased water level was due to normal seasonal rainfall.

Lake Killarney to Silver Lake Creek (Cary, IL, 60013) by Eberhard Veit

Very consistent value matching the outlet of Lake Killarney very closely

  • 5 April 2025

Lake Killarney outlet dam (Cary, IL, 60013) by Eberhard Veit

Chlorides are very constant. Mainly stemming from groundwater load entering the lake. All side streams entering the lake are higher than the lake. Even my drinking water well is around 300 PPM CL- . The creek entering from the Hollows in around 200 PPM and other inflows are between 200 and 330 PPM

  • 3 April 2025

River Park Boathouse by Susanna Lang

Gusty winds. The cormorants are back! Geese, mallards, mergansers, various songbirds. This is my last observation this season.

  • 3 April 2025

Creek Bend Pond by Lisa O'Brien

Typical spring weather, warm/cold/windy with some rain or snow. Even with rain, the pond doesn't appear to have increased water levels. The exit to the creek does, however, look to provide easier flow into the creek from previous years. Have seen turtles, ducks, geese and other birds at the site.

  • 1 April 2025

Prairie DuPont Creek @ Zingg Bridge by Greg Kimutis

  • 1 April 2025

Hickman's Creek @ Zingg & Seager Rd. by Greg Kimutis

    Chloride less than 32ppm

  • 31 March 2025

Big Hollow Creek in Iris Park by Robert Rowe

The stream where I sample is now the site of some major modifications, what appears to be plans to install concrete and gravel-cage bank stabilization. Heavy equipment has been driving in the stream bed.
