Creek is running very low, so I lay a length of plastic pipe into the outflow of a pool in the stream as it flowed over bedrock, sealed it using wet clay, then caught the flow in a 1-litre bottle. Nearby is MTG of a small east-side tributary to Canyon Ck: nearly dry, just a series of pools. May still be flowing but u ble to tell without finding a place where it flows over bedrock. Creek is running low, so I lay a length of plastic pipe into the outflow of a pool in the stream as it flowed over bedrock, sealed it using wet clay, then caught the flow in a 0.5-litre bottle. Due to larger pipe diameter and large flow, I need to use a wide-mouth 1-litre bottle for more accurate flow calculation! Even so, the fairly rough measure of 0.5 l/sec using a pipe and bottle was clearly more accurate than the timed float calculation I've been doing in previous weeks: to compare, I timed the flow in the same location using a float, and got only 0.2 l/sec, a bit less than I'd measure last week!
