  • 5 October 2016

Upstream of Portage-du-Fort by bob simpson

Locals are complaining about the smell coming from the Pontiac Industrial Park and are assuming that it is coming from the septic disposal company Uteau which operates in the park. A site visit by myself proved it to be coming from the Biopark that was build around 1991 to store waste from the paper mill. There is liquid leaching out of this site going into the waste lagoons that is causing the smell. I,m told that Quebec environment is looking into the situation as the Province owns the 7 lagoons which are beside the river with only a rock berm between them and the water.
