  • 24 June 2025

East Kyd Brook by Kirsty Blackman

The stones are starting to accumulate silt.

  • 24 June 2025

Kyd Brook C.S.O by Kirsty Blackman

The phosphate hanna checker result was flashing at 2.5 so it was higher than this.

  • 10 June 2025

Kyd Brook S.W.O upstream by Kirsty Blackman

There is a known C.S.O upstream. The E.D.M showed that the last discharge was on the 7th June 2025 from 17:45- 20:00 = 2hrs 45mins.

  • 10 June 2025

Kyd Brook S.W.O downstream by Kirsty Blackman

There is a known C.S.O upstream. The E.D.M showed that the last discharge was on the 7th June 2025 from 17:45- 20:00 = 2hrs 45mins. Also at this monitoring site there is a S.W.O with a misconnection meaning that there is often a smell of laundry detergent and visible signs coming from the S.W.O. This has been reported but to date the misconnection has not been found.

East Kyd Brook by Kirsty Blackman

The bottom of Kyd Brook was clearer today and the stones looked clean, as normally they are covered with a layer of silt. It must have been the heavy rain on Saturday meaning that the silt is now further downstream. I've also uploaded some sheets explaining the meaning of the ammonia and phosphate levels.

Kyd Brook Hawkswood Estate by Kirsty Blackman

Even though there was a short burst of rain whilst doing our riverfly monitoring today, and there had been rain on and off in the past 24 hours the water level was still low and running slow. As one of the photos above will show the bottom and stones of Kyd Brook are covered in a thick layer of silt making it an awful habitat. This is in part due to the amount of S.W.Os that empty into the brook, which leads to flashing, (water levels rising rapidly) which inturn increases the amount of silt. There was a large oak branch and several large pieces of concrete in the stream, Brian, my fellow Riverfly monitor lifted a couple of pieces of concrete and there were some gammarus and Asellus plus 3 leeches but could not be recorded for riverfly monitoring. R.M.I results gamarrus x12 R.M.I score = 2

  • 28 May 2025

Kyd Brook S.W.O upstream by Kirsty Blackman

  • 28 May 2025

Kyd Brook S.W.O downstream by Kirsty Blackman

There is a known missed connection on the S.W.O, today there was a smell of Laundry detergent and a small grey /blue discolouration in the water nearby.

  • 28 May 2025

Kyd Brook C.S.O by Kirsty Blackman

    The E.D.M said that the C.S.O last discharged on 24/5/25 06:15 - 7am = 45mins.

  • 27 May 2025

Chinbrook wetlands outlet pond by Anne Slater

There had been a high water infiltration with milky colour backing up from Quaggy the previous week. Reported to EA. Still some visible cloudiness in pond. Sample for ammonia test was not possible - low light level of pond water sample

  • 27 May 2025

Chinbrook wetlands inlet pond by Anne Slater

Phosphate sample flashing 2.50ppm. Dark blue (left hand sample)

  • 14 May 2025

Kyd Brook S.W.O upstream by Kirsty Blackman

  • 14 May 2025

Kyd Brook S.W.O downstream by Kirsty Blackman

There is a known misconnection into this surface water overflow/S.W.O, which means that there is often laundry detergent entering the brook. There is a smell of old laundry detergent from the outlet.
