Even though there has been a lot of heavy rain recently the stones are still covered with a lot of silt.

Kyd Brook S.W.O upstream by Kirsty Blackman

Even though we have had lots of heavy rain the water levels are very low. The brook base has a lot of silt on the bottom. The EDM showed that the last discharge further upstream was for 45 minutes on the 4/9/25. This is amazing as discharges were more frequent until thames water carried out some works on the EDM a while back and since then they have been less frequent.

Kyd Brook S.W.O downstream by Kirsty Blackman

No update on the works Thames water are currently doing to fix the collapsed/damaged/blocked pipes that discharge from this S.W.O. At the moment there is a bypass inplace at a residents home which means that all the sewage and surface water are going into the sewage pipes, whilst Thames water replace/ reline or unblock the pipes. Once they have fixed a section, they then investigate further upstream the pipes and this will carry on until it's fixed. No one has any idea on how long this will take.

Kyd Brook C.S.O by Kirsty Blackman

The EDM showed that the C.S.O last discharged on the 4/9/25 for 45 mins, please see attached photos. This C.S.O used to discharge more frequently, a little while ago Thames Water carried our some works and the E.D.M was offline for a few weeks, now the C.S.O discharges less frequently.

  • 12 September 2025

Kyd Brook Hawkswood Estate by Kirsty Blackman

There has been heavy rain fall which has swept a huge oak branch along the brook and collecting debris, but the water level is still low and steady. On a positive note the heavy rain has cleared a lot of the silt from the stones on the base. This site is also riverfly monitoring site, which I monitor with Brian Knight, it wasn't a very good tally again today but there are many surface water overflows (S.W.O) upstream and downstream for that matter plus a C.S.O/ combined sewer overflow quiet a way upstream from this point.
