Callout by Ian Bruce PPSS to retrieve a Lab Sample to test for Fecal Coliform & metals etc. >> nasty colour Unfortunately our D/O meter and camera were out of commission for this event. Definitely a FIRST FLUSH situation that should be monitored in future after long summer LOW Flow out of Culvert

Blenkinsop Creek: Above Swan Lake by John Coates
Leaves are falling fairly quickly with this light rain and the long dry Indian summer. The leaves are collecting at the riffle heads which raises the water levels behind >> looks healthy.

Columbine Culvert Downstream by John Coates
As I approached the test site > disturbed a Blue Heron strutting along the creek bank ... so he flew up through the tree canopy. Greater water flow from this first precipitation has cleared a lot of the duckweed. Also slight discoloration in water clarity from road runoff.

Water levels rising and increased flow is clearing some duckweed.

Anecdote from passerby today about the Creek when he was a kid (late 1940's -early '50's) >> He use to haul in all the crayfish he could catch, then stomp on them on the road to kill them! >> He thought they were eating the trout that he was fishing for >> then he found out ... you could eat them and were really good tasting!!
