Columbine Culvert Downstream by John Coates
water levels and quality are showing positive for the spawning salmon/cutthroat this year. >> no actual fish sightings in this 'lazy reach' but high activity in gravel (redds) above riffles is great to see. And once again, the Blue Heron also tells a tale.

#4 of 5in30 Fall Flush readings. Water volume entering the Colquitz R. from Swan Cr. is not adequate to encourage spawning Coho or Cutthroat up into the watershed.

water levels decreasing thus sad for possible spawning coho >> no new sightings

17 November 2022
Columbine Willow by John Coates
#4 of 5in30 Fall 'flush' samples But the 2022 'Fall' water flow has definitely subsided so the 'Flush' aspect of these samples hasn't amounted to much. Creek has more than usual fallen leaves & 'dams' for this time in Nov. AND even sections of duckweed!!

Bob's Bridge by John Coates
Creek water levels are a welcome sight after alternating days/nights of rainfall. Both coho and sea-run cutthroat trout are making their way up the Colquitz R. system from Portage Inlet. Rewarding to see SPAWNING ACTION ! No testing today === just visual creek observation

Week #1 of 5in30 Flush readings. Past week has seen steady intermittent rainfalls plus mild 'atmospheric river' yesterday. Water levels & flow have increased at a healthy rate. Riffles look 'happy' again for the season!
