- Walk or drive down the first dirt road to the lake at the sign for Pt. Petre. At the rocky beach shoreline Lake Ontario can be accessed for testing. Just tested along the shore using our golf ball retriever to reach out into the water a short distance. Depending on wind conditions this area can be subject to undertow so not advisable to go out very far into the lake at times like that. Today was moderately windy with some small whitecaps on the lake further out. Lake is much higher now than it will be in summertime.
