    North Aurora Riverfront Park by Maura Canzano

    There was ice along the riverbank, extending several feet into the river, at the normal collection spot so I walked approximately 85 feet south. Water was collected underneath the State Street Bridge.

    Apple River in Apple River Canyon State Park by Erik Nichols

    Heavy ice has covered this area of the river for a few weeks. Sample taken through a small melt-hole at the shoreline on first substantial day of melting. No precipitation or significant road salt application in the previous week.

    Moved sampling site about 5m to the left (east) due to ice at original sampling site. Some sediment in water above ice, only a few cm above the ice could be collected for sampling.

    Had to collect on other-side of roadway under bridge due to ice. This was about 20ft from where i normally collect.

    Ice was entirely obscuring the area where I usually sample, so I had to go down the creek about 500 ft.
