    We inadvertently took this sample a couple of blocks from our first sample at Prentiss Creek. (We were fooled by the bridge, which looks just like the one at the first site.) We will return to the first site when sampling Jan-May.

    Kishwaukee River South Branch at Russell Woods by Rachel Ford

    The river was mostly iced over at the bridge where I usually sample, so I went upriver about a tenth of a mile to where there was a non-iced section near enough to reach with a rope and bucket. The water was running quickly and seemed of average depth below the ice.
