    Water level is quite high

    Blackberry Creek Forest Preserve by Ryan Kriz

    There was ice on about half way across the creek. But temps have been above freezing for several days, with today's temperature in the 50s. Also a lot of rain earlier in the day, so ice had been melting and was completely gone in other nearby stretches of the creek. Steam observed coming off of the creek. I took the sample near the bank of the creek in a small area of water bordering the ice (see pictures).

    Ice on the edge of the creek. Water clear and quiet. Air temperature 44 degrees at dusk.

    Round Meadow Lake by Jane Barnett

    The lake is mostly frozen and has been all of December. There is some liquid water along the edge which I was able to reach and test. The Cl level was very low, and I'm guessing this liquid is just from rain and snow melt on top of the ice. I'll keep watching for a better thaw, but it probably won't be in December.
