    Creekside Park by Stephanie Rens-Domiano

    Scared a male mallard when I approached the stream. While I was there, I also saw some robins, redwing, blackbird, chickadee, junco, house sparrow and a cardinal. There was also a nearby spicebush blooming (or at least I think it is a spicebush) Stream was quite high and flowing briskly.

    Saw a killdeer and redwing blackbirds while I was there. Water quite high and moving pretty quickly.

    River very high after recent rains. Filling the forest preserve flood plain across from us. Lowest Cl level by far. No snow for awhile and probably much diluted by high waters.

    Lots of water released from the canal, a lighter, greenish color. Fewer birds than usual: 2 red-breasted mergansers (a group of them a little farther south), mallards, gulls, 2 geese. The mallards are very tally.
