Observations

  • 8 December 2024

North Aurora Riverfront Park by Maura Canzano

Incorrect units on Post-It (3.8 Quantab Units = 138 ppm)

  • 8 December 2024

Timber Ridge Forest Preserve by Andy Culbertson

A muskrat swam to the stream bank and cleaned itself for several minutes. On the smaller streams that fed into the creek, there was some ice on the edges of the water. I forgot to pour out a couple of vial-fulls to clean the vial this time before testing a sample. On the test strip there was a small pale patch above the 3.6 line, but there seemed to be a gap under it, so I didn't count it in the reading.

  • 8 December 2024

East Branch DuPage River at Churchill Woods by Beth Peluse

  • 8 December 2024

Spring Brook Creek by Jan Killian

Clear, mostly covered with ice. Testing from bridge not possible. Tested at culvert.

  • 7 December 2024

River Park Boathouse by Susanna Lang

I thought a lot of foamy stuff had been released into the canal which enters the river just north of my test site but it was ice! Very cold until recent days. Otherwise the river seemed as usual in winter—mallards, gulls, a great blue heron about a quarter mile south, human fishermen, calm water.

    Duplicate sample yielded same results.

  • 7 December 2024

  • 7 December 2024

It has been very cold, one small snow event, little or no accumulation and I had stopped by earlier in the week but it was all frozen and wasn’t able to take a sample.
