    Certainly no snow for a while so no salting the roadways. And very little snow all winter. River still a little high from lots of recent rain, but much lower than it was. Seems like that would have washed out a lot of street residue. So still surprised how high the chloride level is.

    Salt Creek Park Forest Preserve by Tom Kubica

    Very nice day. Water still higher by the bridge and flowing faster than normal. Surrounding land is not underwater . Saw 3 Red-bellied woodpeckers, 1 Hairy woodpecker, 2 Northern Flickers, 1 Blue jay, 1 Brown creeper, 6 American robin, 4 Song sparrows, 1 Red-winged blackbird, 2 Northern cardinal. Heard Chorus frogs. Insects are now out as well. 1 Squirrel.

    Week's weather changed from snow and rain which caused high water in creeks and rivers. Sunny in the 60s currently. Wildlife is returning to the area

    Water quite high again from all the rain lately. Spring growth seems a little slow, but likely due to all the burns and clearing. Saw a Great Blue Heron today.
