About this dataset
We follow the testing protocol laid out in the Water Rangers field guides. You can also familiarize yourself with our protocol by visiting our training page here: https://waterrangers.ca/en/training/.
Specific protocol tips:
Dissolved oxygen: this test can certainly spark some disagreements about the final result. Our protocol - at least 2 people have to agree on the colour comparison. If the colour falls somewhere in between we ask that you mark down the absolute middle rather than take a stab at the exact number.
pH, alkalinity, chlorine, hardness: for the same reason as stated above, our protocol is for at least 2 people to agree to the colour comparison and if it falls in the middle, to mark down the absolute middle. Another thing to carefully consider with this test is making sure you keep the test strip out of the sun and if the colour begins to change due to oxygen/sun exposure, simply redo the test for the most accurate results.
Happy testing!
