    Water level down 5 to 6 feet in depth for construction on the spillway. Lowest it's been in approximately 50 years. Concerned with the very low oxygen level , may experience fish kill?

    An earthy smell present. Minnows, small yellow floaties (algae), small patch of oily sheen. Dock removal was occurring next lot over. Water seemed stirred possibly from dock removal activity. The Itch is occurring in area.

    Had mats of algae the last couple of days, no wind. Swimming etc. is good in middle of the lake.

    Katepwa Lake by Camille Dufour

    Observed blue-green algae on shoreline, July 18, 2025. Observed scum/foam on shoreline, August 28, 2025. Katepwa Lake water clarity was very good this summer, compared to some previous years. However, observed that there was an increase of evenly dispersed green algae once harvest started in mid-August, and there has since been a lot of "harvest dust particles" in the air.

    Some weed growth. Light to moderate algae growth.

    Being a full time resident of buffalo pound lake I have to say , the water quality has been very good this year . No major weed problems, sure we had bad algae days but , that’s life .
