About this organization

Métis people have a close connection to the landscape and its ecosystems. Métis communities rely on the land and waters for food, medicine, spiritual fulfillment and livelihood. The health of the lands and waters will always be integral to the well-being of the Métis.
The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is pleased to launch the first ever MNO-led water quality monitoring program. The program will monitor the effects of climate change on important water-bodies in the MNO’s regional historic communities.
Our goal is to create a network of Métis Guardians across the MNO who will have a vital role in protecting their traditional territories.
The Métis Nation of Ontario's environmental and climate change staff within the Lands, Resources & Consultations branch manage this group.
