Evidence of recent pollution (Surface scum)

Surface scum can be an indication of pollution and/or excessive nutrients. At certain times of the year tree pollen can gather on the surface and appear as a scum.

Limited impact

Small patches or thin film on the water surface.

Noticeable impact

Several visible patches covering parts of the channel.

Significant impact

Thick scum covering large areas of the water surface.
