Evidence of recent pollution (Litter)

For this survey we are defining litter as predominantly smaller items of rubbish - paper, cans, plastic bottles etc. If - in theory - you could pick it up and take it away in a bag then it counts as litter.

Limited impact

Small numbers of items (e.g., bottles, wrappers) present

Noticeable impact

Noticeable accumulation along banks or caught in vegetation

Significant impact

Large amounts covering banks, channel, or forming debris piles
