Photometer (calcium)
A photometer measures calcium in water by using light. First, you take a water sample and add a special reagent that reacts with calcium, causing the water to change colour. The more calcium there is, the more intense the colour becomes.
Next, you place the sample into the photometer. The photometer shines a light through the sample and measures how much light is absorbed. Since the colour intensity is linked to calcium levels, the amount of light absorbed tells the photometer how much calcium is present.
It’s a fast and accurate way to check calcium levels in both freshwater and saltwater.
Tip: Always follow the instructions, make sure the test vial is clean and dry, and handle the reagents carefully for best results
