LaMotte turbidity
The LaMotte turbidity test uses a plastic tube with a black-and-white disk pattern at the bottom to measure turbidity in Jackson Turbidity Units (JTU). To use it, fill the tube slowly with your water sample while looking straight down from the top. Stop when the disk pattern just disappears from view. The water level at that point shows the turbidity level in JTU, marked on the side of the tube. Higher JTU values mean cloudier water. This simple method helps monitor how much sediment or particles are in lakes, rivers, or other bodies of water.
