    River Bend Forest Preserve site by Bruce M Colravy

    The chloride ppm(mg/L) value is entered as 33 because that is the lowest value on the conversion card. The true value is a little less. Common gartersnake (Thamnophis sirtalis) observed on the trail to the site. Needed professional help identifying, because it was a stripeless morph and it had lateral red interscale pigment that is an occasional trait.

    Lily Cache Creek by Water Rangers

    Creek was broad due to significant rainfall in previous week. A pair of mallards observed downstream by log jam. Sample was obtained 2m from south bank, 3 m upstream from a large boulder.

    Creek was wide but not deep; fast flow over riffles. Sample taken about 1/3 across stream from south bank, at upstream where study site begins (just after a bend); taken in run just as it becomes riffle.
