There are still some fry swimming in shallows 10 feet behind distribution box where it was terribly polluted yesterday. Today the whole area is improved somewhat. It is cooler and cloudy today and water temp only 5.

CHUM SALMON FRY just behind distribution box!!🥰 About 50-75 juvenile chum fry swimming adjacent to shore back and forth between area of last year’s bed. Fewer than last year. ATU’s reached approximately 1060. Last year ATU’s were 814 on March 30,2022 when I saw the fry. Today April 18 was clear with sun. The fry were already present when I arrived around 11:30 and visible for about and 90 minutes or so. Gerald entered area alongside zone where they were swimming around 12:15 to take photos but their numbers were already dwindling. Around 12:45 the day became overcast and i left at 1. Around 2:20 pm photos of outfall discharge at oak bay highschool were taken by Kyle and when i went to check on the site at 3:05 the entire zone was was cloudy, murky with sludge built up in zone where fry had been hiding near last years location. No fry could be seen. A truly bittersweet day
