Ramp Saunders Pond Site 6 - Westminster Ponds ESA (Eastern Side of the Ramp) by Jennifer Trampleasure H3-ELP Environmental Leaders Project TVDSB

Prevailing winds drive wave action onto this shore. Wondering if this increases the Dissolved Oxygen at this site upwards?

Grand Marais Ditch by Catherine Owen

Water was a bit higher than last time. Algae is growing on the exposed creek bed on the south side. A blue heron was standing in the water.

Grand Marais Ditch by Catherine Owen

The water was a little higher, maybe 18 inches of bottom now exposed. This was the first time I saw green algae growing on the exposed bottom. It was very thinly layered and only on the wet exposed bottom, no where else. I observed 4 carp swimming around. The biggest was about 2 and a half feet.

Beaver Pond Site 5 Westminster Ponds ESA by Jennifer Trampleasure H3-ELP Environmental Leaders Project TVDSB

Bull Frogs could be heard croaking here and jumping into the water, but I was unable to catch a picture of one. Not much other wildlife seen around. All day, everything was pretty quiet. Algae and oil film can be seen forming on the water's edge here. I did spend some time following this beautiful blue butterfly about. Elusive little fellas are not very photogenic - they do not stop for long. This picture does no justice to the beauty of this butterfly. Gorgeous colours of soft blues.

Floating Dock at Spettigue Pond (Site 4) Westminster Ponds ESA by Jennifer Trampleasure H3-ELP Environmental Leaders Project TVDSB

There is visible garbage at the bottom of this pond. And much littered around the shore. Beer Cans and fishing bobbers, Tims cups ..... Lots of Algae blooms beginning to form near the dock here.

Dock Saunders Pond Site 2 Westminster Ponds ESA Behind London Information Center by Jennifer Trampleasure H3-ELP Environmental Leaders Project TVDSB

There continues to be a large amount of litter found in the water and under the dock at this site. Hopefully the HELP Env. Leader / Volunteers will be able to work with UTRCA and Antler River Rally to clean the mess up.

Buffer West Marsh Boardwalk by Jennifer Trampleasure H3-ELP Environmental Leaders Project TVDSB

There is too much plant life in the water here to actually see the bottom. While I did not personally see any birds other than Redwinged Blackbirds (and even they were really quiet), a couple of birders well known in the area had spotted a Green Heron in the Reeds. I unfortunately could not locate the bird. Others have seen Green Herons here as well. There were many male gypsy moths fluttering all around everything. Quite annoyingly in my face, into the backpack and more. Not a good sign.

    Rocky Edges by Morena McDonald

My friend and his kids completed this test for me while I was on vacation! They’ve been out testing before so they were well trained. They wrote the values in the book and sent me a picture right away so I could use the app to submit the data!
