Alton Flood Meadows, Downstream of footbridge by Judith Ineson

Water still low after dry spell, but increasing.

Alton Flood Meadows, Downstream of footbridge by Judith Ineson

Chalk river, so usually alkaline, but these results are not normal for this location. River was dry at this location last month, but there has been heavy rain off and on for some days so the water in the stream is probably mainly rainwater rather than spring water. Also there was a lot of water coming from a storm drain just above the location which would also be rainwater. There was also a lot of mud coming through the storm drain, this made the water cloudy in parts.

Hoe Stream in Mayford Meadows by Desmond Bell

Previously I monitored Hoe Stream at Kempshott Bridge, but it was very difficult to get to the water because of nettles. I will continue with this observation site, which is also downstream of the PIRBRIGHT WATER TREATMENT WORKS. If you have any questions ring me on 01483767018 or email.

FOUL SEWER OVERFLOW, OCKHAM ROAD SO by Carol Wilson

The initial site is within a private garden and the water then goes in culverts or through other gardens. The site chosen is the first area with public access to the stream after the initial site. It is about 500m downstream, to the north, off Kingston Avenue, just before the Medical Centre, and there is a convenient small bridge across. See photos. Three words are: exit.join.penny
