However, a white layer (appears like congealed fat) covers the bottom of the outfall channel, up to where this meets the Burnt Oak Brook on a diagonal. It seems that the milky and opaque appearance  of the water, viewed from the top of the outfall structure, is due to the white coating of the outfall channel bed. As soon as this meets the Brook, whose water flows faster, the white discoloration ends.\r\n\r\nConductivity: volunteers reported the reading 385ppm.
