Location description
The Bridgeport Road Bridge is the last bridge over the Strong River, about 4.5 river miles above its confluence with the Pearl River at a point 2 river miles below the Georgetown Bridge. The Bridgeport Road Bridge is southeast of Georgetown, Mississippi, 6 miles from the intersection of Highways 27 and 28 in Georgetown, and located by traveling 3 miles east of the intersection to Bridgeport Road and then 3 miles south on Bridgeport Road to the Strong River. The bridge is 1.7 miles north of the community of Bridgeport, as indicated on digital maps, and is in zip code 39149. Access the river from the northwest corner of the bridge and sample at the water's edge. A mown path leads from a road pullout to the steep, but negotiable, sandy river bank.
